t5 lighting

cool . its just finnishing the cycle now brown disapering lol . not a bad cycle at all thank god. lol.i updated my build if you want check it out . almost got the wetdry/sump/requim built lol.

yep. im just outside savannah about 35 minuts from wilmington island he he. yea me and the wife went to the frag swap long day but fun.
 
ouch. nothing that bad here. was 1/72, then 2/15 hhc then 3/15 hhc/ i was 11 charlie mortars little bang bang. lol.
 
In my experience it will cost you more to get a proper t5 fixture than an = MH fixture... BUT

at that point you start figuring in other factors like near endless color combinations, the heat transfer to your tank and so forth.

I've owned 400w DE MH.. 250wDE MH... 250wDE MH with T5 supplimentation.. and strait up t5.

Out of all of them I like the T5. I like the color... the heat advantage (yes I know the argument but it DOESN'T heat your tank like MH), the color options, and the electric bill.

One day i MAY go back to MH, but that day isn't today... or next week either.

I think the costs are really about the same all the way around. From the PAR readings I have seen you have to run pretty equivelent wattages so there goes the power bill theory. Where the arguemant can be made is in the long term bulb costs but even thats not much difference.

The adjustable spectrum on the other hand, is what has been making me think about switching from halides on my 120. I also agree they don't seem to transfer as much heat to the water.
