Here we go, the big before and after comparison! The water balanced out in the Rubbermaid yesterday so I put all the rock back in the tank. Water testing this afternoon: temp 79, PH 8.2, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0, po4 undetectable by elos kit. Still decided to run stability to be safe. Equipment: 20gal sump, filter sock and holder, reef octopus skimmer, jäger heater, mag 4 return, jbj ato setup, new power center and timers, new t5 bulbs and blue LEDs for moonlights, CPR overflow with aqua lifter pump and a tunze power head. Also got new test kits, frozen food, nori and algae clip. My wallet said OUCH! But I think it's worth it. Here are the before and after pics. Interested to see what you all think of my aquascape I still have time to make changes if I need to.

Edit: Hmmm...for some reason it won't let me post more than one pic.

Edit: And one more...

Edit: And yes the stupid LTA has his butt pressed up against the front glass. I guess it's better than hiding behind the rocks.

Awesome work. Especially given the time. If it were me with the same timeframe it would have ended up as a goldfish tank.

Nice work.

Truly a labor of love man!

Now do you get home to something closer to the before or after pics for your own tank?

Lol, that's a scary thought. My tank sitter is pretty good so I would think it's still in good shape...I hope.

The aquascaping is great, is it just stacked or is something holding up the arch? It looks great!

you should go ahead and just spend it all and get a couple choices pieces of coral for him to stick in there..lol seriously that tank looks awesome now, I like to rock work.

Thanks! It's just stacked. Good thing about that kind of rock is it locks together so no rods or putty needed unless you want to do something super crazy.

Lol, I actually went to the lfs today to buy him coral. It's so hard to stop once you get started. Unfortunately they were pretty much cleaned out from the holidays and not getting anything new in. That will give him something to do when he gets back anyway.

Edit: Thanks everyone! It was definately a challenge givin the time frame and I didn't know if I could pull it off at times but I'm happy with the results. If I had more time I would have done more but I think it's a step in the right direction for him. I think one of the best things about the whole rebuild was getting his clown to host in the anemone! So now the tank is done, the stitches are out of my finger (its mostly healed up, maybe saltwater has medicinal value) and I'm on my way to the airport. GA bound!!

He should be getting home anytime now so I'm waiting on the call. I just got home myself, spent the night in atl. Don't you just love coming home from vacation to find all your fish alive and very noticeable coral growth?

Glad to hear your tank survived. :-) Looking forward to hearing what he has to say about his.
