Tank cloudy after wc

Just now. Temp 78. Salinity 1.025. Ph 8.2 ammonia 0. Nitrite 0. Nitrate 0. Cleaned mixing container. Making new rodi water. Hopefully I can do a wc tomorrow.

Little bit of good news. Everything seems to be stabilizing. I'll be doing a wc tonight just in case. Just got a call from the roomie saying the nem split. Doubt this was related but awful weird timing. Hopefully things will continue to improve.

Tank is cloudy again. Just got home. ***. Adding fresh carbon and prime per amici's recommendations. I have water ready for a change. Yay or nay on a wc?

unless there is something wrong with the salt (not saying there is) i cant see how a wc could hurt anything if its been premixed. worst case it does nothing. best case it helps remove anything that might be in there thats casuing the problem

So impeller on my mag 24 for the skimmer just exploded. Could this have been the culprit? At what point do I trash this pump. I could buy an impeller but the inside if the case is a little messed up.

That would worry me. I assume there's metal that is now exposed to the tank....I'd get that out And wc. Not sure about the cloudiness but could explain your losses...

Yep awesome. Wc being done. Cloudiness appeared immediately after skimmer starting last two times. Sps, lps, softies still look good. Fingers crossed

Edit: I'm out of carbon I'll buy more tomorrow

Is the skimmer pump cracked and leaking oil or anything?

Long shot, and not likely........ just trying to help

I don't think so.

Edit: It's possible. Anyone in the area have some spare carbon and a media bag.

Edit: I have cash

I would test the bucket of salt alone to narrow down the culprit . I personally have had bad experiences with this particular salt. But I think it's batches if anything.

unless the pump housing is cracked I wouldn't think a broken impellar would cause the problems your describing. I would be replacing my carbon immediately and as for the salt you are using I refuse to get started on this paricular salt, lets just say I have no love for it. use seachem sea salt if you want seachem product it is a good salt I used it for years with no issues.

The pump housing could have easily been cracked. I bought the skimmer and pump as a package. When I got it the impeller was cracked so I replaced it. It killed this impeller fairly quickly so I think I have answered my own question as whether to trash the pump or not. I'll have to go without a skimmer for a little until I decide what to replace it with. I did test the wc water and everything was as advertised. Pulled skimmer off line and got the pump out. The impeller was destroyed. Oddly it made no noise until it just stopped. Did a wc and added more carbon. Fingers crossed. Thanks again dave and barbara for offering to help.

Edit: O and I hadn't done a wc since sunday so I doubt the salt would explain cloudiness yesterday. I usually just shut off the return to feed. Roommate shut off all pumps yesterday to feed. Cloudiness appeared after starting the pumps back up. I could be way off here but I'm hoping that was it, just don't know how much metal made it into the system.

Are you sure its not just tiny bubbles... ?

No tank had a milky appearance not like micro bubbles. Walter just made me think about macro going sexual. Possible? I think all I have in the fuge is cheato and I rub the lights 24/7. Could this cause the fish and anemone to stress?

Curtis, I don't think it does - when I saw your setup, I couldn't tell what macros you had in your fuge. I wanted to be sure you didn't have caulerpa.

Ugh.. thanks for the link. Sounds like I'm in need of some chaeto and have some grape caulerpa to remove in the near future. Was recommended by a local LFS, which I no longer frequent for other reasons.
