Thrive water analysis station

Anybody see this? These guys were at the frag swap last year. I liked what they were trying to do... print out customized instructions to your aquarium problems (using their supplements, of course) based on water tests done at a Thrive partnered local fish store. Something about just didn't grab me though.

I do like the idea of an automated water analsys station. I'd love to see what the tests are, how they're done and how accurate they are. If they are even reasonably accurate, this is like a dream for me.

I know it makes me a heretic, but i [I]hate</em> water testing. Anything with more than one or two ingredients (looking at you, calcium, magnesium) is just too much of a pain in the *** for me to do.

Saw that too and feel the same way lol! Honestly, I'd rather just drive by a fish store once per month than do them myself. If it's accurate and even reasonably affordable I'd be inclined to use it.

I'd like to think it will cost nothing. Now granted, I never utilized the Thrive water analysis program in its present state, but I believe the idea was giving you free water tests/analysis report including precise instructions on how to fix any problems using their specific lines of supplements. The LFS would then make the money back for the tests from the Thrive supplements.

I'm actually fine with paying a bit more for "premium" supplements if their tests are accurate and their suggestions actually resolve the problems.

I'm good either way. But if the test is free then there may be nothing keeping people from walking with the test results and buying their own supplements. Happy medium might be LFS' waving the test fee if you buy whatever supplements are recommended from them.

Who all does Thrive? I thought Pure Reef does it... anyone else?

From what I know, the Thrive Water Lab results will be very very accurate.

One key aspect is that these kiosks should bring folks back into the stores.

After engaging in a bit of forum necromancy - anyone aware of any store in the ATL area that has one of these? I HATE running water tests (mainly because I end up having to run the same test 2-3 times a session)... yet to find one that my borderline colorblind eyes can accurately interpret.

I don't dispute the need to do 'em, just that I'd rather hand someone $10-20 a pop to do so. Better yet if a tested result history is kept for me - I'm lazy!

Here's hoping! I can handle ph and salinity just fine (digital testers) but for the essential trace elements I'd love to just toss a sample in and have it analyzed instead of messing with a toolbox worth of kits.

Heck, I'd probably even bring a sample of freshly made change water in from time to time as well, just to make sure the bucket's contents didn't settle.
