how do you detach a toadstool from a rock?

You could cut it and then have two after some time. Or you could remove the rock and chip the section with the toadstool off. I'm not sure if you can actually pull it off completely intact unless it's not a very porous rock, but they have really good regrowth, and easy to frag.

thank you,frantz. do you mean cut with a razor blade as close as I can to the rock?

you can cut it with some really sharp scissors or a razor blade anywhere along the stem it dosen't matter where you can even just cut a chunk of the head off it and it will regrow they are a very tough coral.
