Transfering tanks

So... i have a 3.5 gallon with a HoB aquaion 10

i am upgrading to a custom 5.5 gallon with a false wall that will take about 1.5 gallons and make it into a fuge

any way when i have the new system set up i plan to get new sand, but wanted to use my old rock ( i am battling Hair algae at this time)

my question is do i use my old water or use all new?

Just make sure parameters match before transfering.

1st off I would get new rock if it is only a 5.5 Gallon. Save yourself the battle with the hair algea (HA). I would setup the new tank with the new rock and sand. Let it cycle, add a starter coral to make sure all is well. Then transfer anything from the old to the new, but try not to put anything with HA in the new tank.
