water level too high in my rimless?

I decided to test my 11.4 gallon in the bathtub to see if my pump/return/overflow worked properly...but it seems like the tank's water level is extremely high. I took a quick video of the testing on my crappy iphone. Is this kind of waterlevel normal in a rimless tank? I feel like I drilled the overflow hole too high and the return hole too low.

I need some advice because I don't wanna make a mess/flood when i move into my new apartment lol

If it was steady it might be ok, but with the wave action it looks a little high. I've never had a rimless tank, although I want one, so I'm not sure what the norm looks like. Can you post a clearer picture of where the holes are in the overflow?

I don't think it's too high.. I HATE to see a rimless tank that has an inch or more of glass above the waterline..

that's the appeal to me of a rimless tank.. water RIGHT UP TO THE EDGE...


obviously, you'd be in trouble if you're planning on using a wavemaker setting on the MP10.. but whatever setting you've got it on looks good to me..

mines higher than that, i have less than 1/4 of an inch and the water def comes over...so theres a fine line between what looks good and whats more functional but that looks fine

The water level seems to be fine now that I tested it in the garage. Thanks for all the input! And the water power from the return pump is significantly lower than when i first tested it due to the height from the sump and it seems just about right on its lowest setting.

One of the downsides to Rimless tanks (I have one as well) is that is it hard to do serious water movement without slopping water over the sides. I have to keep the Vortech 40 in my 30 x 30 x 24 rimless turned down or I spill water over the sides from wave action. In the case of your overflow and tank water level, you can lower that with a round file and a little filing on the bottoms of your overflow slits. Also, regulating the return pump output can help. Turn it down a bit and you rtank water level can drop.
