Ive done Shroons and leathers before many times, but never an anemone. Thought you had to get part of the mouth, reading that somewhere. Did you try to do that or just cut?
You have to get part of the mouth and foot with every piece.

I just got back from the beach. Here are some updated pics. The cut sides have formed together and the mouths have started, very slightly, to move towards the center. The feet are all attached. Lookin good!

And I finally cut a hole in the top so my clowns could enter. They found it immediately, like before I even got the container to the bottom of the tank!!

I'm glad we bought this when we saw it.
I've NEVER seen anything like it. The base is almost black with bright red tentacles. Thanks again!!

I'm still sad I didn't get a piece - my hopes are with Chris to get some in tomorrow...

PS: Looking so gorgeous...

Good job... Believe me, it was harder on you then it was on the nem. Are you still feeding them?!? Newly cut nems can still eat fish flavored "baby food" as long as you do not use so much that you ruin the water quality of your normal tank. In a commercial operation, you foul the water so much so the nems can soak up food. This does not work in a display tank but it is good to give them something to eat and heal.

That is really cool! Is it possible to cut a carpet anemone in half? I don't have one, just curious.

The original (parent) anemone came from someone local who was propagating them and selling them through Cappuccino Bay. Only three were sold before the store went out of business. I've never seen this particular color morph online or anywhere else.

This is a pretty special critter.

You don't make it any easier, Linda...
Get the knife out and help my desire... LOL

I do have a hard time walking by my tank without a pair of scissors.

:lol2:

I can always send you a little liquid re-assurement in the form of beer frags to ease that decision.

If you ever decide to cut or it splits - you know where to find me.
