I'm talking about way back when we didn't know about LE corals. Or without knowing any prices. What were those corals that made you want to get into the hobby.

I would have to say that the PULSATING Xenia is what did it for me. although i never could keep them alive. To see them pulsate was so cool to see.

Also, Lord of the Ring zoas. Love the pink color that u wouldn't imagine was in the ocean.

I fell in love with the big yellow coral mushrooms and the leathers, then the frogspawn, torches and bubble corals and it just got worse as time has gone by. I added the hard corals, monti's, zoas and chalices. It is the only addiction I've ever had(except food)and I spend every penny I can find on it! :lol2:

Edit: Your water is to clean! :D

Zoas/Palys. I went into a pet store for dog food and they had a tank setup full of all different colored zoas and that was when I decided to upgrade the lighting on my fish only tank and started collecting zoas/palys.

Mine would definatly be the favias. I always liked the way they encrust and have such bold colors. The feeder tentacles are always active.

Xenia... loved it. Made a small forest in my nano, but have always been afraid to put it in my bigger tanks.

Red planet me too. I saw some pics and said I have to have that one day. Zoas pulled me in too

Mushrooms and ricordea for me. Plus anemone... not ready for one of those yet though. I'm glad I like cheap corals lol

when I took 1 polyp of Whammin' Watermelon zoa and turned it into 100+.. and SPS became less intimidating with Green Birdsnest success..

Following the spirit of the OP I would have to say Candy Cane. Loved the stuff. Now that I have two types I still like it but not like I did before I had a tank.

But what really made me always want to go SW was the lack of cool fish in FW. My wife always said the fish I got were ugly and I really couldn't argue. I wanted those cool looking fish but was afraid of the expense and challenge of SW. Now I know those fears were well founded. LOL But I will never go back to FW alone.

Fish actually did it for me; the corals were just accessories. I guess the first corals that I just had to have were some of the prettier zoanthids.

I was enticed by the sheer number of living things in all the saltwater tanks I saw. My friend had some daytripper zoas and some green bay packers zoas though, and the colors of that, a red encrusting montipora, and a purple digitata he had sold me on it.
