does anyone know a site that has an all in one care section for corals???

i've looked everywhere, it seems!

most of my corals are doing well, but not my galaxia, and i wanted to see if my newbie self should be target feeding any of my corals.

candy canes, green leather, galaxia, yellow colony polyps.

It would benefit from target feeding. You should see the feeder tentacles come out on that and the candy cane after feeding your fish. That would be a good time to do it when they are trying to catch/accept food

my candy cane actually doesnt do that. weird. it'll come out at like 8 (i'm guessing that's when budsreef turns off his lights??? that's who i got it from not too long ago) but other than that they're only out when the lights are off.

and my galaxia isn't sending out its feelers...... :( :(

which is weird because everything else is doing just fine. in fact i've had mushrooms split and my anthelia is growing like wildfire, so i dont think it's a water quality problem.

I have a couple of non-photosynthetic corals in my system that require spot feeding, and I alternate between using brine shrimp and using bright well aquatics micro plankton.

While I think that the Brightwell micro plankton benefits my other corals (I always see them extend their feeder tentacles right after I dose it), I don't think that this is absolutely necessary to dose this to have happy, healthy corals. I never fed my corals anything before this, and they all did just fine without it.

If you do decide to dose any kind of micro plankton, I would suggest being very conservative with it. When I started using the micro plankton, I would dump a cap full in a couple times a week... after a couple of weeks, this lead to a hefty nitrate spike :shout:. I have since gone to a less aggressive feeding regime (half a cap full, twice a week) :)

yeah i'm already notorious for dumping 10 times the correct dose of shrimp as it is hahaha.

no need to make my guessing game worse.

I have a galaxia coral that I purchased from Jen about 5 years ago and have never once spot fed it.

I agree with the above posts. At night is when you will see the sweepers. I'm not sure if it is more of a defense mechanism or if it is looking for food though. These corals are very very agressive.

yeah well this one is more of a timid soul. he's never once thrown out his sweepers. i hope he lives :(

also, i need to go get a skimmer. my retarded self bought everything i needed except one it seems. now i'm thinking i actually need one. thought it would be another one of those things my reef could live without but i'm thinking that i need one. i see way too much junk on my sand/crushed coral bed on a weekly basis.
