Who has given up Aquavitro Salinity? WHY?

Hey guys, when Salinity was first released we heard reports of the handles popping off. We looked into the issue and found a design flaw that was then fixed. The handles on these new buckets will not break or pop off. This change was made several months ago and there should not be any more problems. That said, there is always a chance that there is a stray old bucket out there with the defective handle so it is always a good idea to be careful and not hold it directly over your toes or the neighbors Chihuahua. If you do have a handle break, please email us the lot number so the issue can be addressed. We can be reached at
a> We apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused for anyone.

Yep, handle has broken on me numerous times but im going to give this salt one more whirl since i bought a barrel on my new set up and if i dont get better results over the next year or i will be switching to something else as well.

Have you had any break on you recently? If so, this is something that we would really like to know about so we can address it.

Yes but the bucket/salt was purchased from another member so im not quite sure as to where it originated. I have yet to have any from a newly purchased one in a while since ive been buying the barrels.

I see, do you , by any chance, still have the bucket so I could get the lot number?

I've noticed that the handles on buckets I've procured more recently, seem a lot sturdier. I'm paranoid so I still warn people about the risk...

I've had a bucket (not Salinity - another brand), land on my toes (in open toed shoes...) and I can tell you it hurts like... well... after I cleaned up the blood...

I have noticed though that the handle issue seems to have been addressed.

Excellent, I would like to see if it was one of the old buckets. If you want, just email it to us at mailto:support@seachem.com">support@seachem.com</a>.

Jenn, I understand your paranoia, I would hate to have a bucket of any salt land on my toes. We did address the faulty handles but I want to keep up with it just to make sure there are not any more issues. We are a company that promotes the aquarium hobby not ER visits.

I have about a 1/3 of a bucket left I doubt I will use, if any of those in this thread who seem to be excited about this salt wants it let me know. In the mean time I will be looking for a replacement salt. I have enough IO to mix 150 gallons that I will go back to while I decide which salt I will try next. After using 2 buckets of this so called high end salt I believe I have given it more than a fair shake at being able to stand up to the hype (which in my experience it hasn't) so now it's time to move on. In all fairness to Seachem I believe in their other products and use them regularly but I just don't buy all the hype and the explanations (excuses) for the issues that have been brought to the forefront in this thread. There are those in this thread who are so taken by the product they completely over look or ignore issues as dangerous as the rediculously flimsy and dangerous handle that has not changed as stated. I nearly lost some toes the first time I carried one of those buckets out to my truck and wound up bear hugging the container to carry it into my house and had to do the same thing with subsequent buckets I have handled. The issues with cloudiness I never experienced until the last two water changes and that started me thinking "is this healthy for my livestock"? I know when water or food I give to my dogs doesn't look quite right I don't give it to them so why would I subject my aquatic pets to substandard appearing environments.
