Who rinses?

Anyone else feel like rinsing frozen food is unnecessary. If there was a way to verify that I've rinsed all the "nasties" away, I'd be all for it. I make sure all the food is eaten, skim well, and do weekly WC's. What's the point? Who's with me?

I don't rinse . It might help a bit but not to a point where I would care to do extra work

I rinse PE mysis because it clouds the tank if unrinsed. After rinsing, I add selcon and garlic and let it soak.

ditto

I dont necessarily rinse. When I feed PE mysis I thaw a cube in a shot glass mixed with a bit of tank water. Once it is thawed I pour off the liquid and toss in the food. I have zero problems so it works for me

I thaw mine in tank water and then feed with a bulb syringe using the water it thawed in.

That's basically the routine I've adopted. Thaw food in tank water, pour some off, soak, then feed with a syringe. I just feel with what I've spent in filtration methods and the time I put in changing water and said filter media, why bother if the food will never be totally phosphate free?

Sorry, just my rant for the day. It should be noted if my phosphate levels start increasing, I'll be back to rinsing, and complaining every step of the way.

FWIW, I have been told by a PE mysis rep that "it is most nutritional for the fish if the PE mysis are NOT rinsed. They are coated with fatty acids that promote health for aquarium inhabitants...." I didn't have much time to ask about the negative effects on po4 from the "shrimp juice". I imagine that there are some.

I have never rinsed on any of my tanks. As long as you aren't over feeding and there aren't too many leftovers in the sandbed, I find the tank clears up VERY fast.

Ditto.

It's not doing anything noteworthy to remove phosphates, but it does cut down on the cloud.

I don't rinse either, I hold the frozen cube in front of the powerhead for a few seconds and that's it
