Will’s 10gal Waterbox - First tank in 15 years!

Very very nice!
Is there anything you don’t like about this tank or regret in setting up this particular tank?
I’m looking at nano’s when capable.
I had to shut down my tanks do to health issues and can’t wait to start again!

I love it so far! The tank itself is beautiful, and the size is great for my current needs. I’m sure at some point I’ll get the bug to go a little bigger, but I’ve always been a nano reefer at heart. The light I have (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0727V8C5Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_d9f6CbQ8NKYKC) is super affordable and looks like it was made for this tank.

My only concern is that I don’t think there’s really a skimmer that fits the tank that’s really worth having, but that can be said for any tank this size and I ought to be able to manage with regular water changes. You should definitely consider a Waterbox!

Be cautious adding anything else too quickly, for a tank less than 3 weeks old you have a lot that's been added so far. Let it settle in and keep testing to make sure you're not going through another cycle.

Keep the pictures coming, i'm looking for a new kitchen tank and this looks like it might just be the one to go with. Happy reefing!

Thanks! I’m super meticulous about water quality so no worries there. I had the live sand and biomedia going for a couple weeks before I added the cured live rock and bacteria additive (which I’m still shocked worked so well — these types of things didn’t exist in 2004) so the biofilter has had quite some time to get established. Everything’s doing great so far — corals are fat and fluffy, blood shrimp has already molted which is a good sign, and the pistol and goby have settled right into their burrows and are eating voraciously.

Probably will wait quite awhile before adding another fish, but I think params are stable and monitored enough to be good to go on most corals now. Definitely excited to get more frags in there and watch this thing continue to take off!

Here’s an updated full tank shot (still struggling with getting this phone to not show so blue...). Anybody have any thoughts about what to put at the top of the tank? The corals are very bottom heavy right now. Obvious choice is SPS, but I’m not totally sure I wanna go that route. Any suggestions?

Little video tour of the tank after today’s weekly 30% water change. Also -- kinda interesting, I found a snail inside of one of my acans today. Looks like it fell off a rock into the acan and definitely got eaten. Don't mind it though, was a tiny cerith and they multiply like crazy...

Looks great. I had to download another photo application for my phone because I couldn't manually adjust White Balance. The pictures still don't do the corals Justice but it's a lot less blue

Picked up another clown on Thursday. Officially done with fish for this tank, so now it's just about finishing up the corals. Thanks to all the ARC members who I have bought awesome frags from!

Just a few images after cleaning up the tank this afternoon. For those who doubt the ability of the cheap Hipargero LED light to produce good coloration, I hope this will change your mind! I have been so pleased with this light on this nano tank. Almost all of the corals in these photos (with the exception of the maze brain and orange/pink lobo) have come from fellow ARC members!

Haven’t posted any updates on this tank in years, but it’s still going strong. Some corals have done great; others have done pretty poorly over the years. I’ve taken a very laid back approach to this tank and have always just let the corals grow however they want with no pruning.

Recently added a harem of Sexy Shrimp, and they’ve taken to breeding on a regular basis. May try to raise some larvae this summer.

Started with five little acans back in 2019. Three of them have exploded since then. The other two are hanging in there but are sorely outcompeted by the others.
