It'll be much more work than you anticipate. It always is. Just relax and know that everything can live in tubs so long as you have a bit of heat (if needed) and some circulation. So don't rush things and end up killing off what you're working so hard to preserve. I've seen too many people do that.

If at all possible, remove the fish right after pulling the rock. You will stir up a TON of crap when pulling the rock, and I can't imagine that is good for the fish. The less time they spend in murky water, the better they will be.

Have patience, and take pictures =)

I second what Jeff said. :-) I have a pretty busy weekend planned but if you hit a brick wall let me know and I will do what I can to help out.

I have set aside the weekend just for the tank. The old tank will not be broken down until I'm comfortable with the water quality of the new.
Thanks for the advice on pulling the fish. I might switch some things around.

Thanks Rich. Now I'm feeling bad about the old comment earlier.

*New tank circulating and leaked check over night.

Will do. I've already filled the tank with a wp40 and ran for a week.

1st wrinkle. Didn't anticipate the 75 to 35 pounds drop in water pressure. Water making is going pretty slow.

Willingness does not reduce ones age. LOL. Maybe the other way around...age reduces ones willingness. Hehehehehe

Note for future reference. If you pack a pillow and blow up mattress be sure to load it into the truck. Crick, crack. After sleeping on the floor my age is showing through.

Ouch. Word of advice, if you spend more time working and less time on ARC you would be done by now. Hehehehehehe

And if you live by that motto you could single-handedly run the Georgia Aquarium

Thanks Shane. Going fine now just slower than expected.

Good grief, I know what you mean. I set up my new 30g last weekend and it felt like it took forever</em>. It's amazing how much longer it takes than what you thought it would.

Especially when you have half the water pressure :confused2:

Never mixed this amount of water before. Added in 14 cup batches. I expected 48 cups and added 42 although before I had all of the water in. I figured more mix time. The water clouded (precipitated?) and has been cloudy for 18+ hours now.
I have 20 gallons or so to get my sump where it will hit the return box and I'm going to mix that separately before adding.

Good news is the extreme rinsing I did on the sand paid off. When I added it this morning I could barely tell for a few seconds and it all settled. I added it gently by lowering the entire bag to the bottom of the tank and gently pouring it onto the tank floor.

My first sg test showed 1.033 which might explain the precipitation? Now it is 1.025 which is my target.

Red Sea Coral Pro, end of batch I have been using and some came from a new batch.
