anyone keeping Yellow Coris wrasse with there shrimps with no problems , & whats your thoughts about a Emerald Crab any good purpose in keeping this crabs
I think yellow coris wrasses are very under-rated fish. Bright, awesome color and extremely well-behaved. When my 300g is up and running I will have at least 2.
I have had a yellow coris wrasse with 2 peppermint shrimp with no problems. I shut my tank down for 9 months and restarted it back up recently and bought another yellow coris wrasse. They are very well behaved, never messed with any of my tank life and is a very active swimmer. I highly encourage getting one.
Ok, so mine may be the exception. I have two that while they were small were very well behaved. They are both very large now and have decimated my cleaner shrimp population and do not hesitate to rip apart snalils when they end up on the bottom of the tank and vulnerable. I have also seen the rip through zoa colonies in search of pods. Love the fish but they have done some damage to the corals and snail/shrimp population in my tank.
I had one about 20 years ago that jumped, must have landed in the sump and was there about 6 months before he was noticed.
Bob, I know you know your stuff but are you sure they were Halichoeres chrysus (As opposed to Thalassoma lutescens). Juveniles have many similar characteristics and the latter will definitely do what you've described.
I suppose larger Halichoeres can pose a risk. I've seen a couple get really large with age and turn "super male" with pretty pink and green stripes, but they still behaved.
