I'd like to have some zoas covering the bottom 1/4 of some of my rocks, but for the LIFE of me I CAN NOT get zoas to grow....!!!!

The just shrink and melt away over time.. almost every time

Any advise?

That's strange.. You're so good at keeping LPS!

I keep SPS.. almost exclusively, save the giant leather in the right bottom of the tank...

maybe i need to feed a LOT more

Edit: going to run a nitrite nitrate test

I meant to say SPS, had a brain fart. I do know the difference

Zoas were growing like weeds before I had my tank moved. My trates usually read between 2-5ppm.

Running 120w LED lights...

I have a hard time getting my sps to grow though....

It is my understanding that chemosynthetic organisms require some soluable NO3, HPO4.

In other words, perhaps your tank is too clean or has too little nutrients available for consumption.

My Red Sea Pro is kit is reading <.25

Edit: more fish... more food ?:) please say yes!

Agreed.....zoas wont do to hot in a ulns without supplemental feeding.

I have the same problem. My Phosphates were through the roof though because of all the fish I have.

PO4 isn't detectable.. Checked it yesterday.

I've got some Mint Chocolate Chip, Radioactive Dragon Eyes, Pyro's Envy and one more that I can't remember the name of (Belladonna's maybe) that I can trade out.

When they die, do they turn brown?

Closed up irritated polyps, tiny white spirals of eggs on closed polyps, evil little slug creatures (zoanthid nudibranchs) eating your polyps
