Another run at an Office Tank... Grant's 57g Rimless Build

I have 2 MP40QD pumps, but hoping I can get away with just one.

Tank is cycling as I type...lol. Still have a few odds and ends to tackle, but feels good to be close to stocking this thing.

Grant, what return pump did you end up using? Sorry if I missed it somewhere.

Got the Apex ready Waveline DC6000. The Vectra was just too much for this tank and is not supported by the Apex WXM module. The Waveline is a little bit louder, but not by much. I think it will serve me well.

Something seems odd about mixing SW in your office...lol

If I had this in my office no work would get done and my wife would constantly be calling wondering why I was working so late.

It helps to satiate my biophilia complex...

Yeah, easy to clean and maintain outside of the stand.

You probably know this.. but careful with the radions.... I'm only running mine at 65% and thats with 120 degree lenses

Yeah, they're currently at 35% with wide optics.
Working my way up very slowly...

Wow that looks amazing. Super clean build. I'm really digging the profile of those lights. How deep is that tank and do you happen to know what your par reading is on the sandbed? Thanks!

Thanks. The tank is 20" tall, but only about 18" of water. Not sure how much PAR is hitting the sand bed. I do need to get/borrow a PAR meter prior to placing the corals on the rock. For now I just keep an eye on the corals to see if they are browning out or look unhealthy. So far, everything is looking good. Slowly increasing the intensity every couple of weeks.

Update 01-12-16

Tank is doing alright...

I was having a problem keeping Alk up with only the CalRx running. So, I hooked up the KalkRx and that has been doing a decent job keeping everything stable.

The biggest issue right now is that the left front structural seam is failing... I am working with Deep Blue Professional to see what they are going to do to remedy the problem.

Here is a shot of where the seam is failing:

I did notice some micro bubbles there when I set it up and that the silicone seemed a bit thin there, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt... Now I am wishing I would have sent it back.

I will say though that the NYOS 120 skimmer is doing a really good job. Glad I switched from the 160 to the 120. It really pulls some nasty nog and keeps my Nitrates at near 0 (With that said though, I am running a Chaeto Fuge, so take that as you will).

No, it is not leaking, but I am keeping an eye on it. The seal on the inside of the tank that I can see looks alright, so I doubt it will develop a leak any time soon. I am just concerned about the longevity of the tank.
