Any chance of keeping a Regal angel in an lps/softy tank?

210gal with lps (hammers, torch, frogspawn, etc) and soft corals - feeding frenzy for a Regal or ok?

My dwarf angels tore my wellso brain right in two... he is in the recovery bio now and doing fine but with my experience its not worth the risk

Most angels are hit or miss. I've had regals that never touched a thing, and some that ate all my zoas. They usually don't go for frogspawn/torches and a few others, but zoa and sometimes clams/brains can become victims quick. Just depends if you want to risk it or not. I think the going rate for them is $99-$199 depending on size and origin. Red Sea ones are heartier and have better color than the indo ones.

I've heard zoas will be the first on the menu. They're beautiful fish and IMO worth trying. Worst case, you sell all your zoas and have money for other corals :thumbs:

Zoas, clams, wellsos and elegance are particularly susceptible. Euphyllia are hit and miss. I had the best success when I kept the regal well fed

Agree with above - it's a gamble either way. Since angels in the wild pick at clams, anything fleshy that resembles a clam mantle will be a likely target.

I had a dwarf angel that ate Xenia - go figure (some might not think that's a bad thing...)

Zoas usually go fast too.

I guess it comes down to whether you want to risk your corals to find out. Regals are beautiful - and all of the larger angels that I've encountered, have tons of personality.

So my LFS offered to place an angel I was interested in with their coral for a week to check it out. What are your thoughts? If it does not eat the corals in their tank, is it worth bringing home?
