Bubble algae and ??? (Tufty white growth) on zoa frag?

My husband knows that zoas are currently my favorite because as far as corals go, they're pretty easy to care for and their colors are amazing! He surprised me with a frag yesterday and i was thrilled! But upon further inspection, I have questions

Tbh i find the bubble algae pretty neat to look at, but I'm afraid of it going out of control. Should I just try to scrape it off over a separate bucket?

Also, if you closely there are tufty white tubercule-like structures in there. Seems alive. What in the world are these 2 things?

Pull the frag out and scrap/brush the bubble algae off. The white stuff looks like sponges which are harmless but you can probably brush them off too
 
Sponges yes. R/o might be putting silicates in tank. Unless tank is very long established
