Just did a WC followed by a water test.

I needed to up my alk a tad so I started drizzling in a little BRS soda ash solution to start the process (in a high flow area of the tank). It immediately started a snowstorm in my tank. I do this often but has never gave me this type of immediate snowstorm, it always dissolves right away when poured slowly. I forgot what this means is out of whack.

current params
alk - 3.5 meq/l
SG - 1.023
MAG - 1375 (just added some TechM to up it to 1500)
CA - 500 (hence adding the TechM)

Here ya go.

perfect, thanks Bill. Ive even read that several times but never understood it because I havent had an issue. I am in zone 4 and the way I read it was to continue to raise My alk slowly and that is exactly what I am in the process of

Thanks Bill

Yup, and remember that if the pH is 8.2 or higher, using sodium bicarbonate instead, will raise alk without jacking up the pH even more.

my PH stays at 8.3-8.5 I still used a lil soda ash though but in tiny little drops thru the afternoon. Ill have to retest shortly to see where Im at. Can I use the baking soda in my fridge thats been in there for ever??
