In Florida on the Atlantic side (Melbourne) I keep seeing mangrove pods on the beach. Just makes me wonder what can I actually take? Crabs? Stars? These can all be caught with a net by dragging it eap over seaweed. Used to do it as a kid all the time.

Not likely that I will see any coral(I think some soft corals are actually legal to collect), but what would you look for if you were here?

get me some mangrove pods.

a> should have the info

Well passed out for a few hours after dinner and guess what? My brother and girlfriend saw not only sea turtles laying eggs, but hundreds of little hatchlings going for the shore. My girlfriend said they were soft and tickled as they went over her feet. She FELT baby sea turtles. Im so jealous. Shes's going on now... "so incredible... Life changing"

Saw turtles hatching and rushing for the ocean when we stayed at Little Gasparilla Island. One of the coolest things next to dolphins swimming alongside our boat as we crossed the inter coastal. Sounds like you're having a blast!

If you bring back any gorgonians, let me know.

You got it Dave

So, where do I find them? In the bay? Or in the ocean?

I am not sure, I know someone that collected some from somewhere off Key West.

Most amazing experience it is almost 4 am in the past ten minutes I've walked up to three females laying or digging nests. These turtles are wayyy bigger than I thought they were. I almost fell into a hole with a huge female laying. Took a video once she started burying the nest

It's been thunderstorms all day today. Still gotta get out there and collect pods for all my homies. Anyway took this just for you guys

You can collect the pods, but if they have any roots, it is illegal to collect them. Marine patrol is pretty strict with enforcement. With a normal fishing license, you can collect a bucket of inverts, snails, crabs, sponges, gorgonians for personal use only, and not for the sale or distribution.

I would love some mangrove pods or /and other corals if you can bring some back. I have been looking for mangrove all year to put in my refugium.

Lucky man! You get to go off and play with sea turtles while I stay home and hang out with Sadie and Sally. I got the raw deal.

they are very strict on what corals you can and cannot take, i would find a resource that defines it clearly for you. but i know ricordea and zoas are fair game.

id love to head down to the gulf and go dive 2-3 days in a row and bring home 60 polyps of ricordea or colonies of zoas...

how cool would it be to have a ARC group snorkel/dive to do that?!?!?! SIGN ME UP!!

Lol Sadie and Sally and the rest of us really appreciate the help man. It has been thunderstorms all day every day since we got here. At least at night I can get out and walk on the beach. Today should be better, and my first opportunity to actually get back out there and collect some pods

I keep waiting for you to send me a picture of Sadie stuck in the cat door
