if you do not have any non-photosynthetic corals.....STOP! If you have some LPS, feed a little monthly...............STOP feeding.......

what else do you dose? feed?

(please no phyto! LOL)

Ralph, I'm gonna dissagree with you on the feeding....

I say feed heavy, filter heavier.

Edit: My acros grow faster and have better color when I feed heavy.

only AFTER YOU ALREADY HAVE SOME TYPE OF NUTRIENT EXPORT SYSTEM IN PLACE BESIDES A SKIMMER AND
% WATER CHANGES!

But even then, I disagree........the fish & food in my system produce more than enough food for my corals....what do you have, a 10,000 gallon tank? please.....

Hehe. Bout 125 total volume. I run a TON of rox, GFO, skim, and do weekly 30g water changes. I chum that water like I'm fishing for JAWS. It's your wrasse's fault. She's a piggy.

ok so where are we.
Stop feeding ,put carbon reactor back on line, put gfo reactor back on line, and do more water changes. what if its bacterial.

nutrients will add to bacterial blooms such as cyno....

I purposely add Vodka/Vinegar to add bacteria that eats trates....But THAT, is part an ULNS which is a "next step".....let's get through step one...you can always purchase "chemi-clean", follow instructions to the letter 100%, to get rid of cyno....I use it 2-3 times a year, never an issue....per letter, of course.

If it is bacteria, you may want to treat chemi clean for cyano and then dip the effected corals. I really like Julian sprung's dip.

Mike,i believe you may be suffering from acro eating flatworms.its not what anyone wants to hear but all signs point to that.when are you home next week?ill come by and take a look for you.

Have you dipped the corals? I'd be my paycheck on acro eating flatworms. I went through the exact same thing. Buy some Bayer advanced insect killer and follow the directions over on RC.

Dip the most affected colony and see what comes off. As the worms eat the flesh, the acros stn, almost always from the base up.

I've never had them, that might explain the bottom up RTN, tip down, however, is mist likely too high nutrients....

Multi-problem, maybe.

forgive me if this is in a previous post, but from experience I can say that almost every instance of RTN or STN that I've experienced in my SPS tank has been in the midst of a low ALK situation...

If you haven't looked into it... make sure to check your ALK
