doseing question

Im gonna start doseing kalk +2 and was wondering if i would need to use a buffer also.

Kalk+2 is yet another gimmick product from brightwell. The Magnesium side of it is a big joke and a marketing ploy. The Magnesium cannot become soluable in limewater. Here is a link to an article pertaining to this:

I would just get some Mrs. Wages Pickling lime or some BRS Kalk and be done with it.

You would want to buffer your levels up to where you want them and then dose the kalkwasser to maintain those levels.

Be careful when using kalk as it needs some precautions but I wouldn't run an aquarium without it.

I've done got the kalk 2 so I'm gonna use it up so should I still just add the mag another way?

Ok i've made up 2gallons of kalk and put it in my dosing tank my ph is 8.2 i have not used any buffer so im gonna start dosing wish me luck.

What's Kalk...I know what it stands for. If am regularly dosing and measuring Ca, Mg etc. Do I need Kalk?

It's the way I'm gonna keep my calcium, and alkalinity right. I'm using the kalk +2 but after reading the articles corigan posted it appears that I'm gonna have to find another way to dose the magnesium.

I just get the magnesium sulfate and magnesium chloride from bulkreefsupply and mix it up as per the DIY recipe and dose with that to keep my mag in check.
