Dreams become Reality

Current photos. Peninsula is 6‘ x 4‘, 30 inches in depth. First coral added February 2023 (again in Spring & summer 2023), fish added last summer and fall. The more delicate species of wrasse did not survive through year end, perhaps because of diet, and definitely from jumping into the great unknown (and it is fascinating to watch the development of a super male).

Somehow, the tangs get along. Heavy feeding. The yellows and purples were added simultaneously as domestic aquaculture babies.

Twin recirculation pumps from the sump up to the aquarium.

Twin roller matts to collect particulate matter.

Large protein skimmer. The air intake comes through two cylinders with dry absorbent beads to remove CO2 (raising the PH in the tank). Dose ozone into the skimmer with an ORP controller.

Phosphate reactor (dramatically increased growth of SPS by lowering phosphate, but hurt soft coral expansion by removing phosphate).

Twin cylinders with CO2 tank and controller/bubble counter and pump to add dissolved aragonite minerals into the tank.

Container with fresh water to replace evaporative loss; kalkwasser with stirring pump in the top off water.

Three meter pumps for chemicals - to maintain alkalinity, magnesium, trace elements.

Controller for everything.

Pumped water through RO/DI into a 100 gallon poly storage tank. A second 100 gallon poly storage tank holds new saltwater. Change 90 gallons or so every Thursday, vacuum sand, clean glass, other maintenance as required. Water is piped into the sumps.

This technology was added as the coral growth and fish load required filtration beyond the biological material in the tank, and the operable protein skimmer. There are so many different ways to achieve success, I elected automation. There is also a UV filter.
