I have a purple tang chasing a yellow non-stop, other than 30 seconds to grab some pellets to eat. I'd like to take the purple tang out for some time. Any particular fish trap you would recommend?

Tape some photos of other yellow tangs to the glass. As crazy as it sounds, it has worked for quite a few people. (I personally have not tried it... full disclosure).

You can try placing a mirror on the glass. It worked for me in the past. It distracts the fish just enough to stop the aggression.

Not sure if the pictures are working. He hasn't charged towards any of the pictures. He's still going after the yellow tangs. As much as I don't want to, I'm wondering if it will help if I put in another yellow. But I'd want it to be larger than my purple, which is a good 5 inches.

If the pictures do not work, rather than a fish trap...turn lights on bright first thing in morning in a dark room. Fish will come stumbling out and they are easy to catch. You only have about 2-3 minutes before they get awake but they could easily be caught.

Okay, I think I'll just have to wait it out. He's still busy chasing the yellow tangs and this is the third day. The Purple tang is relentless. Pictures obviously did not work even though I had a school of tangs (10-12) pictures in all. Will adding one more yellow tang help to pacify the Purple Tang rather than distract him towards another target?

Probably not based on what you're saying. Sounds like you'll definitely have to catch him and keep him out for awhile.

i made a fish trap out of a coke bottle...i had my doubts it would work but caught the wrasse i need to catch in 30 mins...i just cut the head off the bottle, pushed the neck inward, put a rock inside to weight it down and tosed some pellets of food in there...the wrasse swam in and couldnt get back out because they try to swim along the sides of the bottle..with the neck pushed in , it prevents them from swimming out
