NY aquatics for fish

Wish I'd thought of this thread, but I realistically might not have gotten any responses or worked things out in time. I just got a flame fin tomini tang from this site yesterday for $30! Been wanting one for quite a while. He's only 1", arriving later this week, so we'll see. Paid more for the shipping than I did for the fish 😆
Their shipping materials have been at least fairly robust. I think he’s started to recoup the discount in the fish with extra shipping cost but who knows. He’s came up short on fish I bought 3 weeks ago, for 3 weeks now, telling me he’s getting more in each week.. so I’m on the cusp of never using them again

Either the angelfish are dying within a week or he’s selling and cant keep a hold of his inventory count and selling to walk in customers.. or maybe my discount is too big and he wants to gaslight me until I cancel idk.. but nyaquatic is one nose hair away of getting a permanent complaint troll out of me.. They have the best prices if they actually have the fish

Well now I'm nervous about it 😳. Either I don't get the fish, or I get a sick fish. I'm already a bit wary about any live shipments, thanks to some bad experiences recently with UPS in my area. They have no problem with finding my house when the weather is good, but if it's really cold or rainy, there's always an issue with the delivery. It's a strange phenomenon. But if I get the little guy on time and he's ok, I'll let you know.

This why I always QT fish regardless of where it comes from.

You should be fine, but you should try and quarantine any fish you get, from anywhere. Any source you buy from can face risk, so doing a FW dip and a QT to observe and/or treat is something to consider if your main display is healthy and have had the fish for a long time. Angelfish can be asymptomatic of uronema, so it’s hard to tell with them sometimes. It may be perfectly fine, but that transport to your house exemplified it.

I appreciate the information, sincerely. I'm still in the first year of my saltwater aquarium adventure, and there are a lot of differences, compared to freshwater. I have some questions about QT, so I should probably make a new post for that. Don't want to hijack this thread. Thanks y'all!
