Going to PETCO HELP!?

Ask around about "Retrofit". If you need a canopy, retro fit lights can be more of an issue to set up, but cost much less than fixtures. I've never gone the retrofit route, as my set-up is open top with no canopy so I need a plug & play fixture. Sounds like you really need a canopy so look into T-5 or Metal Halide retrofit kits.

see all of that metal hallide and T5 and all sounds a diff. language to me haha......i do know what retrofit means though hahah.

I do appreciate all the help that has been given to me. I will most likely go to the LFS and just kinda get a visual idea of what i need then come back lookin on the net

PLEASE take my advice....... You'll buy cheap lights 3 times over, where a more expensive light you'll pay a fortune but will only buy once. I've learned this lesson the hard way!

Dakota what is your preferred lighting system? Sounds like you have purchased a few... what do you think is the best bang for your buck?

Avoid those impulse buys at the LFS. Check the members' tank gallery and build threads. Consider starting another thread of "Please show me your lighting set-ups" and ask members to post pictures of their canopies or links to their build threads.

yeah like i said i just want to go to the LFS to know what im looking at when i do see set ups online.

right now if u say T5 i wouldnt have a clue what that would look like or a metal hallide. I just want to go look at the stuff and then I will come back here looking for used items and things like that

once again thanks Linda
