Thankfully my wife is extremely supportive, as long as I stick to a sane budget that doesn't impact our household finances too much in any given pay period. She enjoys having the aquariums, loved my old reef tank way back when, and she knows it makes me happy. We're up to five running tanks in the house now that my 50 is coming online.
That said, it doesn't hurt that I take her to her very favorite restaurant ever in Chamblee (Harmony Vegetarian Chinese) every time I need/want to go out to Southern Aquatics for something
Still, she pretty much has a rule that once I've convinced my penny-pinching self that I want something enough to spend money on it, she usually goes along, especially when it comes to computers, guns/ammo, and fish.
At one point she thought I'd said the new computer I was planning to build was going to be $15k, and just went along with it. Granted, she looked at me like I'd grown a second
and third head every time it came up for the next few weeks, but said she'd figured I had a reason... the look of relief on her face when I finally re-stated it was going to be just over $
5k was amazing to watch... not to mention the "well if THAT's all it is...!" Heh.
I have been informed I'm not to do that on purpose in the future, however, just to get her to agree to something readily
