Ich...help!

It's all good! I acted fast because I lost everything last time because I waited. I'm just going to leave the lights out for a few days until I see a big improvement. Of course, he will still be fed with garlic. Metro and focus if I get some!

I just got home, and took a look at him. There is some improvement! YAY! I'm about to feed a whole cube of brine shrimp soaked in garlic for him and the rest of the tank! He is just as alert and swimming around as when I bought him! There are still 10-20 spots, but it's better than yesterday! Lights will go out as soon as they get done eating! Thanks to everyone for the helpful tips! (:

I have also been using Garlic Guard with the seaweed(hasn't really started eating it yet). I will post a pic in a bit. Oh, and none of my other fish have signs(knock on wood).

I had this issue and it spread to other tangs and butterfly. I moved them to a hospital tank and did hyposalinity for 4 weeks. It worked like a charm. No issues since. Make sure you get a good refractometer if you go this route.

I would, but I dont have a hospital tank! I guess when I get a new fish I could put them into the sump for a while. No fish, sand, or anything down there! Could be just a time to exam them!

You just need a the 20g plastic ones they sell at homedepot for less than $10. I dont think sump will work since any parasites will get pumped back to the main tank.

Yeah! Well, my thing would be just to observe amd be away from other fish for a while!

Be sure you understand the ick life cycle. Too many people think it "went away", when its just cycling through its normal phases.

I just said he had made improvement, I didn't say he was completely free of ich! I haven't seen him today, he should have made more improvement as of today.

thats the point I was trying to stress. Just seeing less "spots" isnt necessarily improvement. Fish that are severely infested may even show no spots at one point. It is a false hope scenario. This parasite will embed in the tissue, and the white spots are just one phase of its life cycle and infestation.

Well, I have seen this disease kill every single one of my fish in my old tank. Today there were little to no spots on him...he's doing good.:)

It was my old tank, not my new 75. Trust me...they had ich! I dont remember any eating habits! But it was ich that killed my last tank.

Edit:

Edit: Granted they will have to remain there for a while so the Ich can cycle in my main tank.. But they are clean and healthy now.

Awesome! I have to give you credit for using cupramine. I have some, and I am almost scared to use it, because if you overdose the copper, it can cause problems. I tend to overdose sometimes!
