Io reef crystals bad bag?

Wow that's great! I will do my best to be there :-) is it at an office building? I went to a meeting like 4 yrs ago

The reason I am still a member is things like this. What a generous thing for everyone to do.

Not sure who is heading up the activities but you can always reach out to Dylan (Ripped Tide). He is always in the middle of all the commotion. Hehehe. Yes the meeting is at an office building just off I-75 inside the loop. If you look at the home page or under club announcements you should find all the info. This one should be good. We will have a chance to look at stuff up close and personal (as in "under the microscope").

I agree. I do not attend meetings and have met very few people but the ones that I have met have been top notch.

You called?

Threads like this make me glad to give back to the club and try to keep this thing going. There's way more to this club than what meets the eye. :)

FrankenBakon, I don't think we need any volunteers for this meeting, but the Annual frag swap will be coming up in April. I'll be able to find something for you to do ;) (I'll be gathering and delegating the volunteers this year)

You got it! I will be creating a "gather the volunteers" thread soon(no later than 2 weeks). Keep an eye out ;)

FrankenBakon... there's another credit here for you - someone else in the club chipped in :) Not sure if they want to be identified - if they do, they can speak up here.

One other thing for folks who might be wondering. I think we figured out why the specific gravity of Franken's make-up water was so low... or if I'm wrong, they can chime in here...

He's got a 45-g Brute. He had it filled up almost to the brim. If I'm not mistaken, the 45-gallon mark is the ridge on the can, maybe 8" or so below the brim. My eyeballing a similar can guesses that the volume between the ridge and the brim is 10 gallons or so. So his mix may have been too dilute.

Given that my measurement of the specific gravity of his tank water was just a bit less than what his refractometer told him, assuming the hydrometer was consistent, the extra water volume in the can would account for the super low specific gravity.

Of course if I'm wrong about the volume in the Brute can, we're back to the drawing board... but he's got a refractometer now, so going forward he should be all set. :)

he also didn't have a heater in that water. refractometers compensate for cold water, Hydrometers don't

Wow thx to whoever else chipped I can't come back till next week but Ill need another water test anyway so that's perfect:-) and as for the mixing water the refractometer says the mixed water is spot on now I had my roommate look at it too so my only guess is that the cold water caused it to show being way off on the hydrometer

Edit: Do phosphates cause tank inhabitants to act different? Everything seems more active today after the carbon and phosguard were added yesterday.. More snails are out and about and my fish are are a lil more active.. Maybe they are just in weekend mode lol
