I've never heard of a black one, but I'm not an expert. The common Caribbean ones are green or red.
You can make a trap from a water bottle (cut off the top, invert it, insert it in the bottom, punch a few holes in the bottom for water flow and put a small piece of shrimp or other bait in there).
Or you could just grab it when it comes out to take food from your hand--if your hand's still in one piece, it's probably not a Mantis! j/k!
