My Next Fishie....what will it be?

Morish Idol very impressive fish in person. Maples seems to be doing great quite a personallity too, he plucks the snails off the glass lol

Arent those supposed to be incredibly difficult to keep? Or is that unless they are eating pellets at the store? I DEFINITELY want one of those in the 180... that or a small school (3) of the Heni Diph... also very cool.

I had one a long long time ago - lasted about 4 weeks

Idols have a couple of issues... number one is getting one to eat (partly because of their natural diet, partly because their thin mouth is prone to damage in shipping/collection).

After they are eating, the challenge is to meet their nutritional needs. Since they eat sponges in the wild, my personal opinion is that an angel preparation would be a good since it contains sponges typically.

There is some anecdotal evidence of Idols living longer with New Life Spectrum pellets, where they sometimes die "mysteriously" (presumably due to nutritional deficiencies).

But as far as on your list...yes everyone has them, but I really love my Regal. She is sooooo full of personality and I can sometimes get her to eat out of my hand :) Had her since she was an inch long, and shes about 3.5 now

I saw a trio of lyretail yesterday at Creation....I thought about it but they were a little too big (i like to watch em grow) so I opted for a new clam instead...they had at least 3 trio's in stock though.

i also thought about chromis - they are inexpensive and not shabby lookin

Yeah, but no matter how many you have, in the end, there can be only one!

I know they aren't hugely popular, but I like bangaii cards. I think a nice little school of those would be cool in a big tank, and you can get them tank raised too.

I think most that buy a small school of Bangaii end up with only one or two... But cool lookin fish. Same goes for the PJ cards.

I like my Bangaii, but never knew how much more active they were in groups until I saw Simon's tank (he has about 8 or 10). They were FAR more active in his tank than my one (who kind of hangs out and doesn't swim much).

tried a group of firefish twice. Did a group of 4 the first time, ended up with none. Tried 6 the next time, ended up with one.

Chromis work good, I got 35 to start and have settled down with 14 left. Not bad for chromis.

I would do more tangs, groups of anthias, or groups of fairy wrasses, watanabie angles, or lyretail angles are nice and reef safe, group of royal gramas(got 3 myself), engineer gobys are fun and cheap...there is lots of stuff

I like the idea of another tang.....which one would be the least "disruptive" to the tank mates? I am going to do some anthias too..how about a Flame Angel.....reef safe?

ahh - cancel the Flame then, I really like angels too..

Jeff - you gonna loan me some $$ to get the school of Helfrichi's goin? Cheapest ive found is $99 each

If it helps (though I know it probably doesn't) my flame angel has been in my tank for about a year and a half, and has never bothered corals.
Still, though, I'd be hesitant to roll those dice again.
