I donated my wifes tank to a school in town several months ago and she has been wanting another since. So I went back in the warehouse to see what I could build for her out of scrap and this is what I came up with so far.

18x11x8 pico tank, yes it is dirty cause I just finished routing it. It will house a pair of twinspot signal gobies and sexy shrimp. Maybe her big present will be Led lighting for it.

She is silly, she had no idea what I was messin with. She asked me if I was building a fuge or mini sump. I hope I can make her :D

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Chris

Oh i like it! LED's would look nice over it.
twinspot signal gobies look really interesting!

how sweet!! and you can do water changes with a plastic cup:thumbs:....now i wonder why i went with the 210...

Oh nice dude I have one of those tanks. Gonna rip off your build buddy

When's her birthday? I need to get you two a bottle of vino to celebrate!

Awesome! She will love it! Please, tell us when her birthday is, so we can at least say, Happy Birthday when we come by and not be like this  later!! lol

Also, I need a tank like that for my Dwarfs....will be talkin' to ya soon!! :D

Very cool man! :)

Here's hoping my wife doesn't see this thread.

If she does see it, it will get me out of the doghouse for a day or two.

I was thinking about a mj400 as a return but I think a smaller pump will be better. Opinions anyone.

The baffes can be moved (I have not glued them yet) I wonder if fuge area back there would be pointless, maybe just do a 2" sandbed.

Her birthday is in the begining of June so I have a few weeks to finish it and get it flowing.

You sure the walls will hold, don't think the acrylic is thick enough! :lol2:

I think a fuge would be pointless back there, but you definitely need an MRC OF-1 or similar to keep the water clean.

What about those "Minijet" pumps?

Just a piece of acrylic layin around the warehouse. Glueing acrylic IS not easy, well getting the seams to be invisible is not. I am getting better but I think the CNC will make a big difference.

Minijet is probably the way to go.

Why not do a pair of shrimp gobies? Either way, stick a pom pom crab in there, and a porcelin crab, and a sexy shrimp, and if you can find one a perterson shrimp. Inverts are great for nano's!

it looks really cool the way the design is. tell julie i said happy b-day. hey also do you have any ro systems like 24 gpd i dont think i will need much larger.

So I guess Julie asking me if I needed her to order a mini-jet means that she read this thread.

No problem as she can now put together her total stocklist. The goal is to have livestock go in on her birthday which is exactly 1 month from today.

:lol2:I was wondering, when you posted this, what the chances are she wouldn't read this. It's a great present anyway. :yay:Something she enjoys and made by you! :D
