Ohkay so I upgraded size in tank and want to make a sump out of my 40 breeder tank need help or ideas on how to set the baffels I want a drain return and fuge in the middle I saw this video and want to make it like that lmk what yu think BTW fish are in brute tubs so I have to figure this out quick. Here is link to video http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D5sTMq2SIyCk&v=5sTMq2SIyCk&gl=US">http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D5sTMq2SIyCk&v=5sTMq2SIyCk&gl=US</a>

The time to figure this out was before the fish were moved. Putting in baffles means curing silicone and stuff... that takes at LEAST 24 hours (recommend longer).

Get your fish into a tank - if you want to make a fancier sump, do it after the fact.

Jenn of course is right. You can still do it but you will have to take it out and put baffels in, let it cure 24 hours our longer, longer the better. I let mine sit for 2 days and it still broke on me, so make sure you do it right the first time.

I've always thought skimming the water before the fuge kinda defeats the purpose.

I put the skimmer on the left and the fuge on the right with both feeding the center chamber with the return pump. I put a T with ball valve on the drain line so I can control the flow to the refugium. Just my $.02

I always thought skimming AFTER the fuge is what defeated the purpose... I also think your suggestion after this quote is spot on.

Depends if you are trying for maximum nutrient removal or increased micro-organic life I would imagine. Neither way would cancel out the other. But you need to get the fish in the new tank. You could always make some sections out of plastic bins later and put them in. It's sorta ghetto, but it works and doesn't require any curing!
