My GBTA got into a fight with my MP40 last night but just for a milli second and I got him out just in time. Only lost a couple tenacles....he was fine. come home from dinner tonight and he was all chopped up in my MP40. I tonged him out and threw away.

All fish look fine and coral too....do I need to go into emergency mode and do a WC or can it wait til morning? Im making water now since I used it all for a small WC today. I have company coming in a few minutes so I didnt want to launch into crisis mode unless I absolutely have to...

Thoughts?

Any idea how long after the event you found him? To me that would be the deciding factor. Did you notice the level of stink when you took it out?

couldnt have happened for that long, no smell either. It made a few clean cuts and he was hanging outside the PH, not fully intangled in the blades like some get. I tossed it anyway

Happend to me and the nem survived. If you got most of it out it should be ok especially with a 180 display plus sump. It not like a sea apple or anything. IMO I think you should be fine.

I hear ya blake, Im thinking the same. I would have tried to keep it alive but was afraid of the toxins...plus, get in the powerhead twice then shame on you, three times....shame on me.

Don't say that. I have a huge apple that is doing good. I also had an anemone chopped up that ended up being three when it healed

They are great to prevent that from happening but really restrict flow when they get stopped up. You have to clean them daily.

I beg to differ honkey, If you tank is clean like mine it shouldn't be a problem

I had a big nem get chopped up by my MP40 too. Got the pieces out the next morning and had no issues with anything, except 1 less nem. I have a 180 too plus sump so you are probably ok

Anytime ive used foam covers they get all gunky quick, Ive got a huge goby that keeps the water column kinda dusty.

All was fine - did a 60 gal WC anyway, I needed to do some maintenence anyway and the water was ready. now I have clowns but no nem....they are completely lost.

Because your real name is Greg. You just don't know it yet!! :D sorry to hear about the nem. I have mines about a foot from my mp40 and he seems happy there. He hasn't moved yet and he's been there for a few months. I hope he keeps up the good boy act and stays put. Good luck with the tank clean up
