Yea i noticed the first corraline on the rocks on top of the old corraline. It just looked a lot darker and looked fresh. When i run the brush over it, it sort of stays put. I do have some other type of algae, not sure about it. It almost looks like a patch of grass from a golfing green. It is circular in shape for sure and is popping up on a specific rock or rocks for that matter. I will try and get a pic of that too. Anyone have a link to a site that has the different types of algae that can grow in our systems and pics as well?

Think i may have found it - look at green turf algae. It really resembles that but is a sort of a brighter green. Its mainly on one rock so i think i will simply remove that particular rock.

The other i am pretty sure is diatoms that i keep seeing grow on my sand bed. I sift thru my sand bed daily but it comes right back so i think that is what it is.

I have been doing a 1 gallon/day water change regiment since i started this hobby but now i am thinking that may not be enough? Any thoughts on this? Anyone else doing this?. Once i get my ro/di unit, which should come in any day now, i will be able to do a bigger water change.
