Now that I have the Euro-Reef 135 (bought new and washed in vinegar-RO/DI bath) settled down and no longer overflowing:D, I'm just curious as to how long I should give it before I should expect results. This in on a newly setup 93 gallon where I broke down 3 existing smaller reefs into 1. Obvisouly everything was good and cured but I took extreme care in cleaning the rock and any reused sand rediculously well so no existing detrius, etc. transferred. I have to be careful with my skimmer water level right now so I don't want to raise it. After I first got it settled down it produced about a 1/4 cup of wet skimmate so I dropped the level down a bit more. The tank is probably 75% or more fresh saltwater and everything is really clean so I expect there to be little suspended in the water column for the skimmer to pull. As it sits now, has a good steady bubble column but hasn't started really producing foam. Should I just let it be for a couple of weeks and not concern myself with what it's actually collecting?

On another note it's amazing to see the change in my SPS polyp extension in this fresh clean water. My softies aren't quite as pleased:D

My ER took about a week to really start working right. It may take a little longer if you REALLY cleaned it.

You'll be happy with the ER.

My rock and sand was so well cleaned it never even released a hint of dust into the water column:D I feared I might have rinsed away my impressive pod population at first, but they appear to still be in full force. I've never had tank enough for a mandarin so that was a goal with this setup (hence the 12 gallon seperate fuge)

I have a reef octopus that has been running 5 days, I have the water column set a little high at the moment, and am skimming fairly wet. It took about a day to start seeing anything at all, but the longer I keep my hands out of the tank the better it has been doing. Dipping a finger in will kill the bubbles for at least 20 min. I added carbon at the suggestion and it seemed to help consistency in the chamber.

Got home to day to the beginnings of a nice frothy foam head. The column level is varying up and down again maybe 1-1.5" but I'm tired of worrying about it:D Just to make me feel better (and gauge what might be in the water), I threw a Remora HOB on the sump that's always worked like a champ for me and it hasn't produced anything in 24 hours so I'm pretty sure my water is just so clean there's nothing to skim anyways.
