I bought this guy from my preferred saltwater store 11/2. I'm not sure if he has eaten or not. I've been trying to observe him without stressing him out. He's in a 20 gallon long qt tank by himself. In the basement guest room. If the lights are on i have them dimmed down low. I kept him in observation for 9 days. Last night I did a water change and started copper. I've tried feeding LRS herbivore frenzy, brine and nori (even tried using Selcon). He has a few 3" pvc fittings for hiding. There is a powerhead, empty HOB, heater and air stone. There is a ammonia alert as well.

Last night I noticed a thin "trail" 2ish inches of mucus/slime coming off his tail fin. I am wondering if that is him shedding his slime coat. My understanding is that is stress related or potentially water quality. I went ahead and put him in copper in case something was getting to him. He seemed very skittish for the first few days which I expected. Now he seems lethargic. I want to do what I can to prevent this fish from dying.

I have a 15 second video I will try to figure out how to upload. The powerhead is a maxijet 600. I've had it in the 160gph powerhead mode. Im wondering if it's not enough flow and I should convert it to the 750gph mode. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Videos won't upload. Ill keep trying. I don't have garlic guard yet. Can I use garlic from the house? If so what form?

I usually make sure the fish in QT are eating well before starting medications, unless they're obviously sick. I'd recommend trying Nori, you could also add Selcon. Also might check Humblefish.com

Looks like he’s trying to sleep there. Throw ins. Few more Large pvc tubes for him to hide in. But going from 0 to 2,4 ug/L is pretty drastic. Might have shocked him

I did a 25% water change before work this morning. Didn't have time to test the new number. Should be around 1.7-1.8 now. Based on his inability to swim well, kinda of teetering up and down and the flow influencing where he goes I didn't think he would make it through the night. He does this weird intermittent twitch too. Could that be a sign of flukes or another parasite? His mouth is little mouth is sort of opening and closing too.

Well he died shortly after I got home. I bought live blackworms and a few other things. I stopped by Southern Aquatics on my way home. (Not where i purchased him) They also thought he may have had internal parasites. I got some metroplex and stability but it was too late Poor thing. Has anyone ever heard of an LFS giving credit/discount after something like this?
