painting fish room ceiling ?

I'm working on finishing a basement area, but the ducts installed dictate that a drop or drywall enclosure would just be too tight... I'm thinking of doing the thing where I paint everything black... It WOULD look cool BUT.. it is flex duct... can I paint that stuff? seems it would peel VERY easily...

any advice?

I'm a painter best paint to use is call dry fog is what we use in all the ceilings in Walmart, k roger and everything we do duct pipes.

Just to throw some other ideas out there and this may sound a little crazy.... but what about stopping by a fabric store and get cloth and attaching it with some velco (so it can be cleaned) or sew a "sleeve" to cover the duct.
