Pearly Jawfish pair

So they're at it again. He's only been holding a day or two before he tosses em. This time I know he's set the eggs down and worked and then picked them back up. fingers crossed:huh:

Sweet! What a cute couple. This is going to be National Geographic with that view into the den. Can't wait to see more!
And hopefully lots of babies in the future.

James, this is one of my target species when I get back in to breeding program again... please keep us posted so I cn learn from your success. Any details you want to share on the conditions of the tank, setup, substrate, lighting, etc would be awesome.

thanks!

well I have moved this entire system next door, but they are still in the 20l refugium. Old sand and a little rubble. I think he wants it deeper than the 4 in.

grrrrr
no. they have spawned 5 times and he still will not hold past 2 days. I've seen him set down the egg mass, work the hole, pick it up and take care of them. By day 3(today) he has no more eggs.

Bummer. Just when u think you got this stuff figured out a little some thing like this happens. My male cardinal has stopped holding full term too. No idea why. Hang in there man.

still spawning regularly. He held til day 5 and I could see some eyes developing. I've read they hold 10-15 days? not yet.

Very cool.

I didn't know you were breeding gobies! Where were they housed when I was there!

Awesome BTW! Is this the first successful fry?

I've got gobies, clowns and cardinals in every tank. The yellow clown gobies and scooter blennies spawn regularly, but I don't mess with them. This watchman goby was my very first fish and has been in all my display tanks. Now the pair is in with the Onyx percs and wc Banggais

hey, starting to plan my tank for a pair of pearly jawfish. I am thinking of a 25G but maybe a 29 would be better so I can put in atleast 5-6" sandbed for them? You think the deeper the sand bed the more likely they are to hold, feeling more secure, etc? a 20H may not have enough floor space. How close is the male's burrow to the female's in your tank? Thinking taller is more better.
