Plumbing question

I'm building my dorso standpipes with 1" PVC tubing. I was reading that I should get 1 1/4 since it seems to do better. I was curious if it does matter if I run one over the other?
I also have unions and does it matter how they are connected the pipe. Meaning the direction of how they disconnect.

On the union, I usually have the nut on the upper side. That way it doesn't slide all the way down the lower pipe while I am putting it together. But it really doesn't matter. Just what makes it easiest for you and gives the most room.


I am going on a cruise.....on my lawnmower around my yard.
