Honestly if that container was deeper to hold more water it wouldn't be a bad surge device. At least we found something to keep Andy busy for another week:D

Youd be surprised to see how many public aquariums use devices just like that. Including a tiny one known as the GA Aquarium.

The wavemaker seems to lose some of its "wow" in the smaller scale. Okay, pretty much all of its "wow".

That being said, Im sure it serves its purpose well.

Perhaps... I think the issue with it is that it just kind of plunks straight down. The rolled-back top of the viewing window in Tropical Diver I think is an important ingredient to the wave's travel.

I think you discredit the amount of water that can be moved by a pressure wave. It surely isnt the main means of circulation, but it serves its purpose (as does the one at the GA Aquarium).

Ill take pix when I get my tank moved to my house but my ATO is rigged. Parts list:

1 vertical float switch (thanks AndyMan!)
1 dosing pump
1 12v relay
1 small project box
1 9v batt. harness
1 9v batt.
1 piece of thin acrylic boiled and bent to 90* angle for float switch and a cheapo petsmart cleaning mag. to hold my strip to my sump wall making it adjustable.

Yeah... i never got around to getting a 12v power supply running. I tore one out of an old PC and never finished the project.. I am powering a 12v relay with 9 volts I have to replace about monthly. New house is good motivation to fix this. Oh... and my sump is 1/2 a wet dry with the skimmer in a 10 gal Sterolite container connected by 1.5" pvc and bulkheads. I will post pix when i can get them.

Im not sure I hold a stick to AndyMan, but I have McGivered (sp?) quite a bit of stuff in my time... there will be more. I just try NOT to use Alabama Chrome (duct tape) for much of anything.
