Setting up a new tank and going through the water making / mixing stage. Do you think it is OK to mix the new salt water for an hour or so and then add it to the new tank? I am doing it in 5G buckets and want to get it filled today. Normally I wait / mix the water for 24 hours before adding it to my current display. Of course the new tank will be given the proper time to cycle before any fish / corals are added. TY in advance.

Is anything alive in the tank yet?
If not - that'll be fine, just expect a bit of CA precipitation, if yes - don't do it...

Thanks. No nothing live. Starting with base rock (marco rock) and new sand. Getting a fresh start :). I may add some coralline scrapings and some "old" tank water in a few days to get the cycle going...

No benefit for "old" water, the amount of bacteria contained is close to none.

Yes,
A handful or so - more might spike some unwanted stuff (ionic balance, etc), so just "seed" it and nature will do its thing...
