Ok it has been awhile for some of you 1 year + Radion users, give us the facts on growth and color please.

It's been approximately 8 months with a Radion unit with upgraded TIR lenses. Growth and color has been fine/ok for SPS and some LPS. Some of my acans changed colors.

On my next build, I am switching to a T5/LED combo.

I am getting strong growth with mine, but I have a shallow rimless so my lighting is extremely strong with it. I am currently running 30% due to acclimating a nem.

I have only had my radions a 2 or 3 months so far but so happy I was steered towards them. Big upfront investment but over all great performance. KF2008, you upgraded lens? Care to go into detail? either here or pm?

I had them for a year and was totally disappointed. I switched to t-5's and have been very happy

To be fair, I've rarely heard anyone rave about them. Acroholic switched just to "see" what Metal Halides could do after using Radions, and that tells me about all I need to know. At that price point, they should be head and shoulders above the rest, but they clearly aren't. I've seen DIY setups blow them out of the water. From my first hand experience, they are OK, but certainly don't warrant the price tag nor the "mystique" of the rest of Ecotechs products. Just my two cents.

I'm much more impressed with AI's and Kessil's lines and both have a lot better price points.

Honestly I've had great results from my Radions if you check out my thread here: http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=78644">http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=78644</a>

But I think that results are going to vary from one tank to another due to other things such as feeding habits, water params, etc. I have 2 on my 58 gallon with TIR lens running about 80% because they are only about 6 inches off the water. I ramp mine between 12k and 20k. My Acro growth blew up after I switched from T5s. I do think that the price point of these was a bit high but I really like the easy programing and the custom settings that I can play with.

Also I've had them over a year.

Do you have any current pics for comparison on growth and color?

ive had a radion over my tank for about a year and a half and have nothing bad to say about it but the price is high for what it is. when im actually staying on top of waterchanges and dosing the tank looks and grows great.

no problem here! the only thing that does not like the radons is my LT anemone , it will not fully open without the halides it used to have , everything else looking good with good growth.

Although I have NOT ran these lights, I have had great success on my tank with 3 photon 16 LED units from reef breeders.com over my 220..... I also installed a 2 bulb 60" MIRO T5 Retro fit kit... 80w ATI blue & purple plus.... Par readings fom my LED's ONLY at full blast read 125 at the sand bed, pretty good.... Good color and growth with this set-up

Ok so here are a couple pics that you asked for. This is after about 4 months, however I did have a mini crash due to a bad refractometer and salinity issue and raising my MG due to my battle with some HA. Also there has been a some fragging going on as well.

After about 4 months.

Looks like corals look much better/happier in the before shot. And it looks like the little purple SPS browned out.
