Radion growth/color results?

sorry g1 with tir lens at about 80% about 6 inches from the water. got it sitting on an ai rail.

yes the corals suffered a bit due to small crash when my refractometer was not calibrated correctly and my salinity was at 40ppm. but even with that the Rasta colony blew up and the red and purple montis have really grown too. also there was a lot of fragging done.

Barrettrhoades;879386 wrote: Cantare00 What were you running for lighting before the radions?

was running 4 bulb geissman t5 fixture. But let me reiterate other factors come into play such as dosing and running gfo. I've had the chance to see other led fixtures in use and can say that they can grow just as well. I like the ability to customize the radions, that is what sold these to me. I've had plenty of friends that got rid of their radions because they said they didn't work but I like them. To each their own.

Welp, I bought the Radion Pro upgrade through their SEP (Service Exchange Program) plan. This means I go through the EcoTech website and charge the cost of two new Radion Pros on my credit card. EcoTech then ships me two Radions that have been upgraded from G1 or G2 or whatever to Pro light clusters and a new waterproof fan. They include a return shipping label, and I use the original packaging to ship my two old G1 units back to them. After they receive my units, they then credit my charge card back $700 for each Radion I ship back, or $730 for each unit if the G1 has TIR lenses on it, so the cost of upgrading a G1 to a Pro is $300, or $270 if you have TIR lenses on your G1, which I do, so my total net cost of upgrading two G1 units with TIR lenses on them is $270 each, or $540 total.

The SEP plan lets you keep light on your tank. They also will upgrade your own lights if you want to send them in, but I didn't want to interrupt the lighting schedule over my tank for that. Several days in the dark would not be good. Most folks that upgrade use the SEP.

I hope it will be worth it.

Wow!! Beautiful colors on that tank!! I have had my Radions from the start (almost a year). I am a newbie so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I enjoy being able to program my lights and know just what strength and color and time they are set to. They grow algae really well...;). My clams are happy, and everything else is doing well. Mostly softies right now. I have 2 first gen lights over my 125gal tank (6 ft long). I will need to get another one for the center to really have enough light to cover the whole tank.

Hey Dave,
Are you getting close to being done with your cube? Just wondering if your trying to decide what lights to go with. I wasn't going to post because I've only had my Radion for 8 months, but I 'm very happy with it and my corals are thriving.
When your ready, I've got ya a beautiful rainbow anemone I think you'll love :)

As long as it is others money for me lol . Or not proven.
I've seen too many veteran reefers who actually know the difference switch back or in the least supplement after running LEDs. You will find most who are satisfied with them have never used other light sources and if theu have usually not for more than a few months before going LED

Ok. I swapped from radiums and t5's. I'll post back in 10 years to give you an update.

No need I already have all the dry I rock I need that came from other LED users.:D
In all seriousness though it does "seem" and I hate that word, that most of the super nice MATURE Tanks I see on all the forums for the most part are all lit with MH, T5s or supplemented LEDS

Edit: I'd really like for LEDS to be with out a doubt the way to go but I have not seen that yet
