reef octopus nwb 200 noisy

Has anybody had problems with the otp 5000 pumps being noisy? mine is making a rattling noise all the time now and its driving me crazy. If you cap the airline momentarily it will go away for a second and then comes right back. A friend suggested reducing the amount of air being allowed in so I tried restricting it a bit and it doesn't seem to help much. I've had this skimmer quite a while and its just started doing this in the last few months. Any ideas??? Pump is clean as a whistle too and has a new impeller.
