Is roasted seaweed good for Tangs? Does it need to be raw instead of roasted? A friend picked up some for me the other day, and neither of us is sure if it is the same or equal to Nori. What she got me is Sushi-Hane Roasted Seaweed.

Thanks,
Brad

Does it say roasted seaweed lavar on the ingredients? If so, I bought that once by accident and it was greasy. So now I just stick with "dried seaweed" from Super Hmart.

Thanks! The only ingredient it lists is seaweed, and it doesn't appear to be seasoned. I hope my Tangs love it!

i would think that by being roasted it would be deprived of any real nutritional value. so it would be like feeding ourselves over cooked veggies all the time. yes its filling, but not very good for us.

The nutritional value is less but it would be impossible to feed fresh seaweed everyday. The dried has been roasted as well. The dehydrated is a little higher in nutrition. The roasted is the same as the julian sprung brands etc The only difference is the price.

That's what I was thinking, and the reason I posted this thread. I've always seen recommendations to feed Nori to Tangs.

Thanks for clearing it up! That makes sense now.

I use the walmart brand in the chinese section. Works great for me and my tangs love it.

looks like a trip to the local health food store is in order, or whole foods for that matter. see what you can find in seaweed products. see if you can find uncooked or unroasted stuff.
