Hello Reefers,
I am going to do some aquascaping in my 75. I have about 80lbs of live rock, mostly Figi. I just kind of stacked em up...looks pretty cool, but I am worried about a landslide. I have some fiberglass rods now and I am ready to do some drilling. Just looking for some ideas. Any pics, threads or links will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Sorry...no beads will be handed out.

My 55....still mainly frags but the rockwork is staying like this - the fish love zipping through the different openings. I think I am going to add more the the left side of the tank and find a better place to hide the MJ that feeds the UV unit, but thats about 50-60 lbs in a 55 gallon. There is some premium fiji, and some dfs select lalo rock that I cured and has been in the tank <3 month...and of course a couple of tonga rocks that I hand picked at a LFS to create the stand for the rock. Work in progress......

Wow! Nice looking design. Did you use any supports like glue, zip ties or rods?

Thanks!!...

No rods, no ties - nada....but I carefully placed everything and chipped away joining edges to keep everything flush when needed. I can put weight on certain areas and get a little movement but it won't come down....

This was difficult in a 55 gallon! I was wishing for a 75 or bigger but with some elbow grease and some careful planning I got what I wanted. You really have to hand pick the key pieces and I was lucky with my lalo rock from dfs....

Now I am going to work on the other side but I am waiting for the perfect piece of tonga to base out my structure. I am being careful to make sure I do not obstruct the water movement I have now.....

Not to much right now but waiting on it to fill in.

i love that black sand, i think im actually going to go that route with my rocks as well russ (piled up on the side open in the middle.)

Really nice set up Peaches. What kind of rock combination do you have there?

TNY...I like your set up as well. What I have in my mind is very similar to what you have done there with the two island set up. I was going to shoot for a bit more "airy" look though.Thats why I was considering rods. I want to place the rocks so there are are lots of holes. Did you use anything to hold that baby together...or just careful placement.
Thanks!

Thanks!

One side of me says do rods blah blah blah...the other says whens its together its where it stays...

Careful placement is all...I envisioned a more airy look but I had more rock than I thought...hence...my current aquascape

Im glad you live...thank you

Here is my rockwork. I think i'm done adding now, time to add a few more acros and let them grow out.

Thanks for the comment. I have a little of every thing i think. I do have some slate in there which some think is bad but I have not had any problems yet. I have my water tested once a week at my lfs and I test at home and no problems with those.

J.austin. Thats an awesome set up. I like the big back wall!

Dog...That is the "airy" look I am going for. Your set up looks great!. Did you use any zips or rods to hold all that together? From the front it does not look like that much rock. But the side veiw? Wow!...thats some serious boulderage! (I dont think boulderage is really a word...but it should be).

Thanks!

Thanks man, I'm thinking about upgrading to a 90G in a year or two and i'll go for a look more like Dog's tank, i'm a big fan of the arches.

Thanks Basscyn. No zips or rods, I just put the largest LR on the bottom. Then I just tried to make as many caves and open space as possible. It took me re-aquascaping about 6 times, but every time ya redo it, it looks better.

Thanks Russ, I still think some of it is going in the sump.

Those are great setups!!

...Russ - I really like the 90! I am trying to decide when I should let go of the 55 and go to a 90.

That is not too much rock maddog - Nice work.

TY and Dog...Really...dont take rock out...it looks great
