Show Me Your … Rocks!

Here is mine. Nothing fancy. Just basically stack them up and pray they don't fall over. The tank is still new. Its only about 6 weeks old.

Beautiful set up PG. Really nice looking tank. Hey...kind of off the Rock subject a bit but, how does that location work for you. I had considered putting mine in front of a window as well. I was worried about having too much light and maybe having the temperature fluctuations.Obviously you are not having any issues...looks like a pretty healthy tank! Again...nice roxx!

I don't have problem with algae..I painted the back of my tank 2 coats of Krylon paint from Walmart. As for the temperature swing, I dont' really notice much but then I have 2 heaters that are controlled by ReefKeeper 2.

Ok guys. Thanks for all the help. Here is what I came up with. I did do some drilling and used several rods to hold the lower peices together. Some of it is just stacked. This is 60lbs of Fiji. The 2 lower rocks on the right are 5-8 lbs ea. of something else...I dont know what kind of rock it is. Got it at the Aviarium...didnt ask. Just handed over the $$$. Anyone know?

What da ya think? Take it easy on me. I am just a rookie:roll:

I would like some opinions though. I am sure I will still move it around a bit.
This is also my first phot post.
I hope it works.

Thanks!

Looking good! Lots of places for your fish to swim through. Keep us posted. If you decide to get more rock, I would make the trip to Salwater City they have great prices on LR. At probably half the price.

Think I need more rock?
no that looks nice.
I am a fan of the open space thing, they look so much better than rock walls and you have more rock surface to cover with corals.

when you start getting corals i might have some free frags for you.

Sweet...Thanks!:yay:

My rocks drilled and held together with 1/2 pvc pipe. Also I keep it suspended a couple inches off my sand bed.

Nice! I hadnt considered raising them up like that. That looks great.

When I moved my tank I couldn't believe how much detritus collected in the sand bed under my rock work. This should keep my sand bed a lot cleaner. Also you can build any rock formation you can think of and its solid.

I used a 3/4 in masonry bit, which drills through live rock like butter. I would have liked to use acrylic rods because they are less noticeable but it would have been a little more work connecting the rods to a base under the sand also I couldn't find them locally.

Check out this guys tank

Heres my rock when I first started and the second pic is up to date. My rocks were from Marcorocks.com and I cycled them in the tank and seeded then right after 6 months later covered in corillan.
