noticed a few days ago a few branches starting to turn white but it's getting worse today I see white strings coming out of it, probably flesh. The colony is over 1 year old maybe it just reached critical mass if there's such thing for corals.

water seems fine

sal 1.025
pH 8.3
ammonia 0
nitrates 10 (I'm due for a water change tomorrow)

everything else looks fine, anything I can do at this point to save it?

I fragged mine into large mini colonies when it started bleaching, and all of the pieces recovered, FWIW.

Hate to say it but I would start fragging in order to save whats left. Beautiful birdsnest though.

ok I cut it, I saved about 4 pieces for myself but I still have 50+ frags so I'm thinking free frags for everybody tomorrow at the meeting. I'm not mounting them on plugs but I'll probably separate them in individual ziploc bags with a bit of water.

I'll post a more formal announcement in my for sale thread that will probably see some drastic price reductions too soon

here's a pic of the frags

my green birdsnest started doing the same thing yesterday, i fragged off the dead and it seems to have stopped whatever it was.

Mine was going on a third dead plus it was so big and branched it was really hard to frag it even in medium pieces
I'm not that worried, it was too big for that spot already and it got to that size from a 1 inch frag in one year

yeah, no worries that stuff grows crazy fast, but it sucks to see anything die off, but it happens
